May Hussein

May Hussein is a Middle School Math teacher at AFA. With 20 years of experience in education, she has taught in a variety of roles and settings, bringing both depth and versatility to her work in the classroom. She holds an undergraduate degree in International Business and an MBA with an independent study in Islamic Finance. She is a licensed math educator in both New Jersey and Virginia and in 2017 helped pilot the algebra track program here at AFA helping shape the school’s math curriculum. Her passion lies in transforming the way students experience mathematics. She is dedicated to removing the intimidation often associated with the subject, and finds the greatest reward in watching students grow from disliking math to understanding it with confidence—and even beginning to appreciate it. Outside of the classroom, she enjoys spending time with her three children, growing her vintage online shop, visiting coffee shops, gardening, and doing her best to keep her sourdough starter alive.
