Marcus Mayo is the Dean of Students at Al Fatih Academy. He is passionate about helping cultivate a healthy and intentional holistic culture within education. Marcus holds a Master's degree in Counselor Education from the University of Montana and has a Bachelor's degree in Liberal Studies/Humanities with a focus in Religious Studies. He holds CACREP accreditation as a School Counselor. He has completed the Mindfulness Foundations and Mindfulness Educator Essentials courses through the nationally recognized program, Mindful Schools. His book, Mindful Quarterbacking has reached the Amazon Top 100 Bestsellers for different categories on multiple occasions. He is also a professional Mental Performance and Mindset Coach (MGCP). His life's work with his “Win The Now” philosophy has included working with students, educators, student-athletes, and other working professionals to help maximize performance in the present moment and to “win the scoreboard within”. Marcus has also spent nearly 20 years working in football as a HS and college coach. His work has been published by American Football Coaches Association on multiple occasions, discussing both athletic performance and mental health. Marcus’s top passion is spending time with his wife and children. He loves the mountains and spent 10+ years living in Montana, which he credits to changing his life and increasing his love for Islam. He’s also passionate about school energy and culture, something he's thrived off of as a football coach. He hopes to bring that energy and enthusiasm to AFA’s amazing culture. He enjoys listening to the history and captivating stories of Islam and utilizing those lessons when working with Muslim youth.
