Learning through Service

Each year students are able to translate what they learn in the classroom outside the world through a variety of experiences AFA offers. Examples of these opportunities include:
  • Rise Against Hunger
  • Adopt a Street - Clean up of Pinecrest Road
  • Cookies for Neighbors - 8th Grade engagement with local neighbors
  • Voter education at the ADAMS Center
  • Visit with State Legislators (6th grade Local,  7th grade State, 8th grade Federal)
  • Monthly Senior Assisted Living Home Visits
  • Embry Rucker Shelter - Sandwich making delivery monthly
  • Refugee Apartment Setup by Middle School
  • Mental Health Panel - Student Initiated and organized
  • Interfaith Christian/Jewish Learning
  • Reston Community Center - Participation in the MLK Yearly Program
