Learning through Service
Each year students are able to translate what they learn in the classroom outside the world through a variety of experiences AFA offers. Examples of these opportunities include:
- Rise Against Hunger
- Adopt a Street - Clean up of Pinecrest Road
- Cookies for Neighbors - 8th Grade engagement with local neighbors
- Voter education at the ADAMS Center
- Visit with State Legislators (6th grade Local, 7th grade State, 8th grade Federal)
- Monthly Senior Assisted Living Home Visits
- Embry Rucker Shelter - Sandwich making delivery monthly
- Refugee Apartment Setup by Middle School
- Mental Health Panel - Student Initiated and organized
- Interfaith Christian/Jewish Learning
- Reston Community Center - Participation in the MLK Yearly Program
